Nyamaropa, Nyanga — The community of Nyanga North Constituency proudly hosted the highly anticipated Manicaland Provincial Pfumvudza/Inthwasa Field Day, an event that drew significant participation from local farmers and agricultural stakeholders.

Held in Ward 12 at Samungure Village in the Nyamaropa area of Nyanga North Constituency, this event was a key platform for promoting sustainable agricultural practices and equipping farmers with innovative techniques to enhance productivity.

The Pfumvudza/Inthwasa initiative, a flagship program under the leadership of President His Excellency Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa, is dedicated to achieving food self-sufficiency for Zimbabweans.

This climate-resilient agricultural approach emphasizes cost-effective agronomic practices designed to transform the agricultural landscape.

The program aims to empower communities to thrive despite the challenges posed by climate change, ensuring sustainable farming methods are adopted widely.

Hon. Chido Sanyatwe, the area legislator for Nyanga North Constituency, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “The Pfumvudza/Inthwasa Field Day is a crucial opportunity for our farmers to learn about innovative agricultural practices that can significantly improve their livelihoods. We are excited to showcase the benefits of this initiative to our community.”

The Pfumvudza/Inthwasa Field Day was filled with a range of activities designed to educate and engage local farmers.

Key sessions included practical demonstrations on soil health, pest management, and crop rotation techniques led by agricultural experts.

These sessions aimed to enhance productivity and sustainability, equipping farmers with skills they can implement directly on their farms.

Understanding the economic aspects of farming is equally critical. Deliberations on budgeting, accessing financial resources, and effective income management strategies were also part of the program.

Presentations from Agricultural experts among them, partners such as the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water And Rural Development, private agricultural players among them, Valley Seeds, Expert Choice Agro-Chemicals and Super Fert Fertilizers focused on adaptive farming practices to help farmers cope with unpredictable weather patterns, an increasingly pressing concern due to climate change.

These activities empowered farmers with practical skills, ultimately leading to improved agricultural output and enhanced food security across the region.

The Pfumvudza/Inthwasa Field Day was more than just an educational event; it was a celebration of community spirit and collaboration. Implemented under the Zunde raMambo/Isiphala SeNkosi initiative, the field day celebrated the success story of government initiatives being rolled out to the communities all across Zimbabwe.

“We believe that community engagement is key to sustainable agricultural practices,” Hon. Sanyatwe stated.

By bringing together various stakeholders, the event fostered an environment where knowledge and resources were shared, benefitting everyone involved.

The economic implications of the Pfumvudza/Inthwasa initiative are significant. By promoting sustainable agricultural practices, the program aims to enhance food security and create job opportunities within the agricultural sector.

As farmers adopt these innovative methods, they are likely to see increased productivity and income, contributing to the overall economic development of the nation.

The event attracted farmers not only from Nyanga North and Nyanga District but also from neighboring constituencies across Manicaland Province.

This broad participation showcased the collective interest in advancing agricultural practices and improving livelihoods.

Government support has been instrumental in the success of the Pfumvudza/Inthwasa initiative. Hon. Sanyatwe emphasized the importance of partnerships between farmers and the central government, stating, “The support from the government and our agronomists has been vital in making this event possible. It demonstrates our collective commitment to improving the livelihoods of our farmers.”

As the day progressed, farmers expressed eagerness to learn new techniques, share experiences, and connect with fellow agricultural enthusiasts.

“This field day is more than just an event; it’s an opportunity for our farmers to come together, learn, and grow,” Hon. Sanyatwe noted.

“We encourage everyone to participate and take advantage of the knowledge and resources available.” She added.

With strong local leadership and community involvement, the event is set to leave a lasting impact on the agricultural landscape of Nyanga North, Nyanga District, and Manicaland Province, ensuring a brighter future for farmers and their families.

The enthusiasm and commitment displayed during the Pfumvudza/Inthwasa Field Day highlight the potential of the agricultural sector in transforming the economy and improving livelihoods across Zimbabwe.
