Nyanga North — The spirit of development and inclusivity under the Second Republic continues to illuminate rural communities, as Kambudzi Primary School in Ward 9, Nyanga North, celebrates the long-awaited connection of electricity.
The project, implemented by the Rural Electrification Fund (REF), marks a new chapter for the school and the surrounding community, aligning with President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s vision of “leaving no one and no place behind.”
The electrification of Kambudzi Primary School was joyously received by teachers, learners, and parents who gathered to witness this historic moment.

Nyanga North Member of Parliament, Hon. Chido Sanyatwe, led the celebrations, commending the government’s unwavering commitment to improving rural infrastructure and enhancing access to modern education.
Hon. Sanyatwe described the development as a tangible sign of progress under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, emphasizing that electrification is more than a luxury — it is a foundation for growth and empowerment.
“This milestone is a clear demonstration of the Second Republic’s commitment to rural transformation. With electricity now available, our learners and teachers can fully embrace 21st-century education, including the use of ICT tools in teaching and learning,” she said.
“This aligns perfectly with the Heritage-Based Education 5.0 philosophy, which promotes innovation, research, and practical learning.” Hon. Sanyatwe added.
The Heritage-Based Education 5.0 model, spearheaded by the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education and that of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development, encourages an education system that produces problem-solvers and innovators.
With access to electricity, Kambudzi Primary School can now integrate digital learning platforms, computer studies, and multimedia teaching resources—bridging the gap between rural and urban education standards.
Teachers at the school expressed excitement, noting that electricity would transform their daily operations.
“We have been teaching without power for years, relying on limited resources. Now we can use computers, projectors, and even power science experiments. This will improve both the quality of education and learner motivation,” said one teacher.
Parents and community members also hailed the project as a life-changing development.
Beyond the school’s benefit, the surrounding community will now have an opportunity to tap into the power grid, opening possibilities for small-scale enterprises, improved healthcare, and access to information.
The Rural Electrification Fund, established by the Government of Zimbabwe, continues to roll out projects across the country, targeting schools, clinics, business centers, and households.
The program has been instrumental in accelerating rural development, ensuring that communities once considered remote are now connected to the national grid.
Hon. Sanyatwe reiterated her commitment to working hand-in-hand with government agencies and development partners to ensure continued progress in Nyanga North.
“This is not the end, but the beginning of more transformation. Every school, clinic, and home deserves access to modern infrastructure. The light that now shines at Kambudzi represents hope, opportunity, and the realization of Vision 2030.” Hon. Sanyatwe remarked.
The electrification of Kambudzi Primary School is a glowing testament to the government’s drive to empower rural communities through tangible action.
Under the Second Republic, the dream of equal access to education and opportunity continues to move from policy to reality, one village at a time.
Nyanga North Constituency has benefited from such projects with the 59km Tsengerayi-Fombe HT line being a major milestone in the constituency, now at Mukunza with the last phase to Fombe resuming any time soon.
