Michael Chiwenga Receives Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Gerald’s Church

Religion – Today marked a special milestone in the life of Michael Chiwenga, son of General (Rtd.) Dr. Constantino Dominic Guvheya Nyikadzino Chiwenga and Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi-Chiwenga, as he received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Gerald’s Church.

The solemn event was attended by close family, friends, and members of the Catholic community, all gathered to witness the young Chiwenga’s public profession of faith.

The Chiwenga family, known for their strong devotion to the Catholic Church, has consistently emphasized the importance of instilling Christian values in their son from an early age.

Both General Chiwenga and Colonel Baloyi-Chiwenga have often spoken about their desire to raise Michael with a foundation built on faith, discipline, and service, mirroring their own lives of duty to family, community, and nation.

Confirmation, one of the key sacraments in the Catholic faith, signifies the strengthening of a baptized Christian with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Speaking briefly after the ceremony, a family representative emphasized that Michael’s Confirmation was not only a celebration for the Chiwenga family but also an important reminder to the wider Catholic community of the value of guiding young people in faith.

“We live in a time where children are exposed to many distractions, yet today we are reminded of the importance of grounding them in the Word of God. Michael’s Confirmation reflects the family’s dedication to raising him in Christ, and we celebrate with them,” said the family representative.

The church service was marked by hymns, prayers, and the laying on of hands, a central ritual in the Confirmation sacrament.
