Abu Dhabi – Zimbabwe and the United Arab Emirates today marked a significant diplomatic milestone following the submission of credentials by His Excellency Ambassador Isaac A. Moyo to His Excellency Omar Obaid Alshamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, in Abu Dhabi.
The formal exchange, conducted in an atmosphere of warmth and mutual respect, symbolised the deepening of bilateral relations between the two nations and reaffirmed a shared commitment to cooperation, dialogue and partnership. This indeed is the call by the President His Excellency Dr. ED. Mnangagwa of engaging with all nations across the globe thay share fraternities with Zimbabwe.

The presentation of credentials is more than a ceremonial act. It is a moment that formally empowers an envoy to represent the interests, values and aspirations of their country at the highest diplomatic level.
For Zimbabwe, Ambassador Moyo’s submission of credentials comes at a time when the country is intensifying its engagement with strategic partners across the Middle East, Asia and the Global South, anchored on economic diplomacy, investment promotion and people to people cooperation.
Speaking during the engagement, His Excellency Omar Obaid Alshamsi welcomed Ambassador Moyo and conveyed the warm regards of the leadership of the United Arab Emirates to the Government and people of Zimbabwe.
He underscored the UAE’s appreciation of its growing relationship with African nations and reiterated his country’s desire to expand cooperation with Zimbabwe in key areas including trade, energy, infrastructure development, tourism, agriculture and climate resilience.
Ambassador Moyo expressed his profound gratitude for the cordial reception accorded to him and conveyed greetings from the President and the people of Zimbabwe. He reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to strengthening ties with the United Arab Emirates, noting that the two countries share a common vision of sustainable development, mutual respect and non interference in each other’s internal affairs.

He emphasised that his mission would focus on translating political goodwill into tangible economic and social benefits for both nations.
The UAE has, in recent years, emerged as one of Africa’s most important partners, investing billions of dollars across the continent in sectors such as renewable energy, logistics, mining, aviation and agribusiness.
Zimbabwe, endowed with vast natural resources, a youthful population and strategic geographic positioning in Southern Africa, has increasingly positioned itself as an attractive investment destination.
Ambassador Moyo highlighted these opportunities, stressing that Zimbabwe is open for business and eager to welcome Emirati investors and tourists.
Today’s engagement also reflected the broader transformation of Zimbabwe’s foreign policy, which places economic diplomacy at its centre.
Through sustained diplomatic engagement, Zimbabwe seeks to unlock new markets for its products, attract foreign direct investment and foster technology transfer.
The UAE, as a global trade and logistics hub, offers a strategic gateway for Zimbabwean goods and services into the Middle East, Asia and beyond.

Beyond economics, the discussions touched on cultural exchange and people to people relations. Ambassador Moyo noted the growing number of Zimbabweans living and working in the UAE, contributing positively to sectors such as health, education, engineering and hospitality.
He emphasised the importance of protecting the welfare of citizens abroad while also encouraging cultural understanding and exchange between communities.
Climate change and sustainable development were also prominent themes. Both Zimbabwe and the UAE face climate related challenges, albeit in different forms.
The UAE has positioned itself as a global leader in renewable energy and climate action, while Zimbabwe continues to prioritise climate resilient agriculture and sustainable natural resource management.
Ambassador Moyo expressed Zimbabwe’s interest in learning from the UAE’s experiences and exploring partnerships in renewable energy, water management and climate smart technologies.
The submission of credentials comes against a backdrop of increasing high level engagements between Zimbabwe and the UAE.
In recent years, bilateral visits, investment forums and cooperation agreements have laid a solid foundation for enhanced collaboration.
Today’s milestone further consolidates that progress and signals renewed momentum in diplomatic relations.
Observers note that Ambassador Moyo brings to his assignment a wealth of experience in diplomacy and public service.
His appointment reflects Zimbabwe’s intent to deploy seasoned diplomats to strategic postings, capable of navigating complex global dynamics while advancing national interests.
His presence in Abu Dhabi is expected to further elevate Zimbabwe’s diplomatic footprint in the Gulf region.
As the ceremony concluded, both sides expressed optimism about the future of Zimbabwe UAE relations. There was a shared sense that the relationship has matured beyond formal diplomacy into a partnership grounded in trust, opportunity and shared ambition.
For Zimbabwe, this partnership holds promise for economic growth, job creation and enhanced global integration. For the UAE, it represents a chance to deepen its engagement with Southern Africa and contribute to sustainable development on the continent.
Today’s event, while formal in nature, carried deeper significance. It was a quiet yet powerful reminder that diplomacy remains a cornerstone of peaceful international relations.
As Ambassador Isaac Moyo formally assumes his duties in the United Arab Emirates, expectations are high that his tenure will usher in a new chapter of robust engagement and practical cooperation.
