President Mnangagwa Central Committee Address: Reaffirms Unity, Economic Transformation and Party Discipline

HARARE – President Mnangagwa Central Committee Address dominated deliberations as President Emmerson Mnangagwa challenged ZANU PF leaders to remain united, disciplined and committed to completing Zimbabwe’s economic transformation while defending the country’s hard-won independence.

Addressing the ruling party’s Central Committee meeting, President Mnangagwa paid tribute to distinguished liberation heroes who dedicated their lives to Zimbabwe’s freedom and development, while outlining the party’s roadmap towards achieving Vision 2030.

The President honoured the late Air Commodore (Rtd) Simon Brian Bere, Brigadier General (Rtd) Donald Silundi Tshuma and Cde Victor Matemadanda, describing them as gallant sons of the soil whose sacrifices would remain etched in the nation’s history.

“We remain indebted to all our liberation heroes whose courage, patriotism and selflessness secured the freedom that every Zimbabwean enjoys today,” he said.

He urged party members to emulate the commitment and resilience demonstrated by the country’s liberation icons in safeguarding national sovereignty and promoting development.

Revolution’s Work Continues

President Mnangagwa reaffirmed the revolutionary mantra, “Mu ZANU PF, iwe neni tose, tine basa” and its Ndebele equivalent “Wena-Lami silom’shebenzi,” stressing that every party member has a responsibility to contribute towards national development.

He said the revolution remains an ongoing process requiring dedication, discipline and collective responsibility.

According to the President, ZANU PF’s Party Motto continues to serve as the guiding compass for the Central Committee in executing its constitutional mandate and ensuring the party remains responsive to the aspirations of Zimbabweans.

He challenged members to place national interests ahead of personal ambitions while strengthening internal unity.

Defending Independence and National Unity

The Head of State reiterated that the Second Republic remains firmly committed to defending Zimbabwe’s independence, freedom, peace and unity.

He said peace remains one of Zimbabwe’s greatest national assets and should never be taken for granted.

President Mnangagwa urged party structures at every level to continue promoting peaceful coexistence, dialogue and social cohesion as foundations for sustainable development.

Stronger Policy Oversight

To enhance policy implementation and accountability, President Mnangagwa tasked eleven Standing Committee Chairpersons with presenting comprehensive reports covering their respective portfolios.

He said the reports would strengthen policy generation, monitoring and evaluation while ensuring the party remains effective in responding to emerging national priorities.

The President noted that strong institutions and effective leadership remain critical pillars for achieving the country’s long-term development goals.

Economic Independence Remains Key

President Mnangagwa emphasized that political independence alone is insufficient without economic empowerment.

He said Zimbabwe continues making significant strides towards attaining upper middle-income economy status through deliberate investments across strategic sectors.

“The march towards becoming an upper middle-income society is irreversible,” President Mnangagwa declared.

He highlighted continued progress in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, tourism and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), describing the sectors as engines driving inclusive economic growth.

Government programmes aimed at increasing food security, industrialisation and value addition were also cited as yielding positive results.

Women and Youth Empowerment

President Mnangagwa commended ongoing women empowerment initiatives which continue creating opportunities for self-reliance through agriculture, mining, manufacturing and entrepreneurship.

He said women remain indispensable partners in national development and should continue receiving support to expand their participation across all productive sectors.

The President also praised the Presidential Youth Fund, saying it has become an important vehicle for empowering young Zimbabweans through revolving income-generating projects established at district and ward levels.

He encouraged beneficiaries to utilise the resources responsibly while creating employment opportunities within their communities.

Supporting War Veterans

President Mnangagwa acknowledged ongoing programmes aimed at improving the welfare of liberation war veterans.

He described the initiatives as tangible expressions of national gratitude to those who sacrificed for Zimbabwe’s independence.

The President said Government remains committed to ensuring former freedom fighters enjoy improved livelihoods through targeted empowerment and social welfare programmes.

Inclusive Social Development

The President reiterated Government’s commitment to leaving no one and no place behind.

He highlighted expanded social protection programmes targeting elderly citizens, people living with disabilities and vulnerable households.

President Mnangagwa said inclusive development remains central to the Second Republic’s governance philosophy, with increased investments being directed towards improving livelihoods across all communities.

Cell Structure Remains Party Foundation

President Mnangagwa described the Cell and Village structures as the backbone of ZANU PF’s organisational strength.

He said vibrant grassroots structures guarantee genuine membership, strengthen mobilisation and ensure the party remains connected to communities.

The President urged members to continue consolidating these structures ahead of future electoral processes.

Tsholotsho Victory Celebrated

The President congratulated the party for its victory in the recent Tsholotsho by-election.

He attributed the success to unity, discipline and effective grassroots mobilisation.

However, he cautioned members against complacency, urging continued vigilance and preparedness for forthcoming elections.

According to President Mnangagwa, every election presents an opportunity to strengthen public confidence in the ruling party’s development agenda.

UN Security Council Election

President Mnangagwa welcomed Zimbabwe’s election to the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term, describing the achievement as clear evidence of growing international confidence in Zimbabwe.

He said the development reflects the country’s successful engagement and re-engagement efforts while enhancing Zimbabwe’s voice on global peace and security matters.

The President pledged that Zimbabwe would continue championing peace, multilateral cooperation and equitable international relations during its tenure.

Brick by Brick Towards Vision 2030

Concluding his address, President Mnangagwa called upon every Zimbabwean to serve the nation wholeheartedly under the philosophy of “brick by brick, stone upon stone.”

He said unity, peace and development remain the foundation upon which Zimbabwe will achieve its Vision 2030 aspirations.

The President urged party members to remain focused on delivering tangible development outcomes that improve the lives of ordinary citizens while safeguarding the country’s sovereignty for future generations.
